The Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for efficiently and accurately operating various types of sewing machines to assemble, stitch, and finish textile products. This role requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to quality and production targets.

Key Responsibilities:-

Machine Operation

1. Operate and tend to various industrial or domestic sewing machines (e.g., single-needle, double-needle, overlock, serging, flatbed felling, banding, buttonhole, tackers, etc.) to join, reinforce, decorate,or perform other sewing operations on garment or non-garment products.
   
2. Adjust machine settings such as tension, stitch length, and stitch type according to the requirements of each material and product.
   
3. Select appropriate thread, needles, and other accessories for the task at hand.
   
4. Monitor machine operation to detect problems such as defective stitching, breaks in thread, or machine malfunctions.
   
5. Troubleshoot basic machine problems and perform minor adjustments or repairs. Report major mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
   

Material Handling and Preparation

1. Read and interpret work orders, patterns, and technical specifications to determine production requirements.
   
2. Position and secure materials on machines for stitching, using marks, clamps, templates, or cloth as guides.
3. Cut fabric and other materials to the required size and shape using scissors or cutting machines, as needed.
4. Attach elastic, cord, zippers, hooks, buttons, and other trimmings or fasteners to sewn pieces according to instructions.
