Position Overview

Youth Advancement is looking for an experienced and qualified Retail Sector Trainer to deliver high-quality skill training to candidates in accordance with the curriculum, standards and guidelines prescribed by the respective Sector Skill Council.

The selected candidate must be TOT-certified by the respective Sector Skill Council and should have relevant knowledge and practical exposure to the Retail sector. The trainer will be responsible for classroom training, candidate counselling, attendance monitoring, MIS reporting, pre-assessment preparation, assessment readiness and supporting candidates towards successful certification and placement.

Eligibility Criteria

1. MBA + NET is mandatory.
2. TOT certification from the respective Sector Skill Council is mandatory.
3. Minimum 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in the Retail sector, training, skill development, education, sales, retail operations or related areas.
4. Education, qualification and domain experience should be relevant to the applicable NSQF Qualification Pack (QP) and the requirements prescribed by the respective Sector Skill Council.
5. Strong knowledge of Retail operations, sales, customer service, merchandising, store operations and related retail concepts.
6. Good communication, presentation and classroom-management skills.
7. Ability to conduct training in offline/classroom mode.
8. Ability to maintain training records, attendance and daily MIS.
9. Candidates should be comfortable working with digital tools, email and LMS/MIS systems.

RASCI's trainer-selection guidance states that educational qualification and domain experience should follow the NSQC-approved Qualification File and NCVET requirements; its current ToT calendar also specifies domain-experience requirements for individual Retail QPs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Candidate Counselling

1. Counsel candidates regarding the Retail sector, job roles, career opportunities and skill-development pathways.
2. Explain the training process, course objectives, assessment methodology and certification requirements.
3. Motivate candidates to attend training regularly and participate actively.

2. Retail Sector Training

1. Deliver classroom training as per the approved Sector Skill Council curriculum and Module/Model Curriculum.
2. Provide theoretical as well as practical knowledge relevant to the applicable Retail job role.
3. Cover relevant areas such as customer service, sales, retail operations, product knowledge, merchandising, inventory/stock handling, POS operations and workplace practices, as applicable to the selected QP.
4. Use appropriate training methodologies, activities, demonstrations and practical exercises.

3. Attendance Monitoring

1. Monitor and maintain daily candidate attendance.
2. Follow up with absent candidates and encourage regular participation.
3. Maintain accurate attendance and training records.

4. Daily MIS Reporting

1. Prepare and submit daily MIS reports as required by the organization.
2. Maintain records related to attendance, training progress, candidate participation and performance.
3. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the project/team management.

5. Pre-Assessment

1. Conduct or support pre-assessment activities as per project requirements.
2. Identify candidates' learning gaps and provide additional support where required.
3. Prepare candidates according to the assessment pattern and competency requirements.

6. Assessment & Certification Preparation

1. Prepare candidates for the final assessment conducted as per the applicable Sector Skill Council requirements.
2. Conduct revision sessions, mock tests, practice activities and doubt-clearing sessions.
3. Ensure candidates understand the required competencies before assessment.
4. Support candidates in achieving successful certification.

7. Candidate Motivation & Placement Readiness

1. Motivate candidates to achieve good grades and successfully complete the training.
2. Develop candidates' confidence, professional behaviour and workplace readiness.
3. Encourage candidates to participate in placement activities and pursue suitable employment opportunities.
4. Support placement-oriented preparation wherever required by the project.

8. Result & Training Quality

1. Work towards achieving a minimum 95% result-performance benchmark, subject to candidate attendance, participation, assessment rules and other project conditions.
2. Monitor candidate performance throughout the training cycle.
3. Provide additional coaching and remedial sessions to candidates requiring support.
4. Maintain high standards of training quality and candidate engagement.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a TOT-certified Retail professional/trainer with relevant domain experience and strong classroom-delivery skills. Candidates with practical exposure to Retail Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Store Management or related areas will be suitable, provided they meet the applicable QP and Sector Skill Council requirements.
