About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Assistant Construction Painter & Decorator (TOT-Certified Trainer) to deliver professional theoretical and practical training to candidates in construction painting, surface preparation, decorative finishing, and related construction activities.
The trainer will be responsible for providing hands-on practical training, developing trainees' technical competencies, conducting assessments, maintaining training records, and preparing candidates for assessment, certification, and employment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and practical training for the Assistant Construction Painter & Decorator job role.
- Explain painting materials, tools, equipment, techniques, and workplace practices.
- Demonstrate surface preparation, cleaning, scraping, sanding, filling, and levelling techniques.
- Provide hands-on training in putty, primer, and different types of paint applications.
- Train candidates in brush, roller, and spray painting techniques.
- Demonstrate interior and exterior painting procedures.
- Train candidates in colour mixing, shade matching, and decorative painting techniques.
- Provide practical training in texture painting, stencil work, patterns, and decorative finishes.
- Explain waterproofing, protective coatings, and basic surface treatment methods.
- Train candidates in proper handling, storage, and use of paints, chemicals, and other materials.
- Ensure trainees understand construction site safety, PPE requirements, and safe working practices.
- Demonstrate correct use and maintenance of painting tools and equipment.
- Monitor trainee performance and provide constructive feedback and technical guidance.
- Conduct practical exercises, mock assessments, and internal evaluations.
- Prepare trainees for final assessment and certification as per the prescribed curriculum/QP.
- Maintain trainee attendance, assessment records, session plans, and daily/periodic MIS.
- Ensure training delivery is aligned with NSQF and Qualification Pack requirements, wherever applicable.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized practical training environment.
- Motivate trainees and develop their technical, workplace, and employability skills.
- Coordinate with the Training Centre and project team regarding batch schedules, assessments, and trainee progress.
- Support trainees in placement readiness and provide industry-oriented guidance.

Eligibility & Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma/Certificate in Painting, Construction, Civil, or a relevant trade, as applicable to the concerned Qualification Pack/project.
- Relevant industry experience in construction painting and decorating.
- Previous experience as a vocational/technical trainer will be preferred.
- TOT Certification as required by the concerned Sector Skill Council/project.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Strong practical demonstration and trainee-handling capabilities.
- Ability to deliver both theoretical and hands-on practical training.

- Deliver quality training as per the approved curriculum and session plans.
- Ensure trainees gain practical competency in painting and decorating activities.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and training records.
- Complete training and assessments within the prescribed timeline.
- Support successful trainee assessment, certification, and placement outcomes.
