Job Description – Fashion Designer (TOT Certified Trainer)

Position: Fashion Designer – TOT Certified Trainer

About the Role

1.       We are looking for a skilled and experienced Fashion Designer – TOT Certified Trainer to deliver high-quality vocational training to candidates in the field of fashion design, garment construction, and apparel production.

2.       The trainer will be responsible for providing theoretical knowledge, practical demonstrations, hands-on training, candidate mentoring, assessment preparation, and industry-oriented guidance in accordance with the applicable Qualification Pack (QP), National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct classroom and practical training sessions in Fashion Designing and Apparel-related skills.
2. Deliver training as per the approved curriculum, lesson plans, QP/NOS, and training schedule.
3. Provide practical demonstrations on fashion illustration, pattern making, cutting, stitching, garment construction, draping, and finishing techniques.
4. Explain fabric types, textiles, colours, measurements, fitting, fashion trends, and garment design concepts.
5. Train candidates in the use of sewing machines, cutting tools, basic fashion-design equipment, and relevant software/CAD tools, wherever applicable.
6. Develop candidates’ practical skills through hands-on exercises, assignments, demonstrations, and projects.
7. Conduct regular tests, practical evaluations, assessments, and mock assessments.
8. Prepare candidates effectively for the final assessment and certification process.
9. Maintain accurate attendance, daily training records, assessment records, and MIS documentation.
10. Monitor candidate performance, discipline, participation, and learning progress.
11. Provide individual guidance and mentoring to candidates who require additional support.
12. Motivate candidates towards employment, entrepreneurship, self-employment, and career development opportunities.
13. Maintain professional standards of training delivery and ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
14. Coordinate with the project team, centre management, assessors, and other stakeholders as required.
15. Support placement and post-training activities wherever applicable.
16. Ensure training delivery is aligned with industry standards and applicable skill-development project guidelines.

Required Skills & Competencies

1. Strong knowledge of Fashion Designing and Apparel Production.
2. Practical expertise in Pattern Making, Cutting, Stitching, Draping, Garment Construction, and Fashion Illustration.
3. Good understanding of textiles, fabrics, colours, measurements, fitting, and garment finishing.

4.       Knowledge of fashion trends, design concepts, and apparel industry practices.

5.       Strong training delivery, presentation, communication, and classroom management skills.

6.       Ability to conduct practical demonstrations and manage hands-on training sessions.

7.       Good candidate counselling, mentoring, and motivation skills.

8.       Basic knowledge of digital tools and Fashion CAD is an added advantage.

9.       Ability to maintain training documentation and MIS records.

10.    Strong interpersonal skills and a professional attitude.

Eligibility

1. Relevant qualification in Fashion Designing, Apparel Design, Textile Design, Garment Technology, or a related field.
2. Relevant industry and/or training experience in Fashion Designing and Apparel.
3. Valid TOT Certification as required for the relevant job role/project.
4. Knowledge of NSQF, QP/NOS, skill-development training standards, and assessment processes will be preferred.
5. Candidates with strong practical industry experience and proven training capability will be preferred.
