Electric Vehicle Service Technician (ASC/Q1429)

Job Summary:
The Electric Vehicle Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, servicing, repair, and maintenance of electric vehicles. The role involves working with high-voltage electrical systems, batteries, electric motors, controllers, and charging systems while strictly following safety standards and OEM guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance of electric vehicles
2. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and mechanical faults in EVs
3. Inspect, test, and service lithium-ion batteries and Battery Management Systems (BMS)
4. Maintain and repair EV charging systems, inverters, and controllers
5. Safely handle high-voltage systems in compliance with safety procedures
6. Use EV diagnostic tools, scanners, and testing equipment effectively
7. Carry out insulation resistance testing and electrical safety checks
8. Follow OEM service manuals, standard operating procedures, and quality standards
9. Update software, calibrate systems, and conduct performance testing
10. Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and maintenance reports

Safety & Compliance Responsibilities

1. Adhere to high-voltage safety practices, PPE usage, and LOTO procedures
2. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of EV batteries
3. Follow workshop safety, fire safety, and environmental regulations

Educational Qualification

1. ITI / Diploma / Certification in Automobile, Electrical, Electronics, or EV Technology
2. ASC/Q1429 (NSQF-aligned) certification preferred

Required Skills & Competencies

1. Strong understanding of electric vehicle systems and components
2. Knowledge of EV powertrain, battery systems, and charging infrastructure
3. Electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting skills
4. Familiarity with BMS, CAN bus systems, and power electronics
5. Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals
6. Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

Work Environment

1. Authorized EV service centers and workshops
2. OEM dealerships and manufacturing units
3. Fleet maintenance facilities and training institutes
