Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (HSS/Q2301) Trainer

Role Summary

As an EMT-Basic Trainer, you will lead the delivery of the NSQF Level 4 training program for the HSS/Q2301 qualification (Emergency Medical Technician – Basic), as defined by the Healthcare Sector Skill Council. You will counsel and mentor participants, deliver theoretical and practical training per SSC-designed module curriculum, monitor progress, manage assessments, and support candidates through to certification. Your goal is to achieve a very high success rate (95%) in assessments and motivate candidates toward placement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Candidate Counselling
   • Engage with prospective trainees to explain the EMT-Basic course structure, career pathways, and certification benefits.
   • Help assess candidate suitability, motivation, and commitment.
   • Provide guidance and support during admission/enrolment.
2. Training Delivery
   • Deliver both theory and practical components, following the SSC’s model curriculum for HSS/Q2301.
   • Use competency-based training methods suited for NSQF Level 4: simulations, role-plays, scenario-based training, hands-on ambulance-/equipment-training.
   • Incorporate employability skills, soft skills, and domain-specific emergency medical content.
3. Attendance & Engagement Monitoring
   • Track daily attendance of trainees.
   • Identify and address absenteeism proactively (through counselling, reminders, etc.).
4. MIS Reporting
   • Maintain a daily Management Information System (MIS) report capturing attendance, module progress, issues, and observations.
   • Share MIS data with management on a regular basis (daily/weekly).
5. Pre-Assessment & Baseline Evaluation
   • Conduct pre-assessments to understand trainees’ baseline knowledge and skills.
   • Analyze gaps and adapt training plan accordingly.
6. Assessment & Certification Preparation
   • Organize mock tests (theory and practical) aligned with SSC assessment standards.
   • Guide trainees through the formal SSC assessment process.
   • Ensure documentation readiness (trainee records, assessment forms, certification paperwork).
7. Motivation & Placement Support
   • Provide continuous encouragement and mentoring to trainees to achieve high performance and certification.
   • Share information on placement opportunities in healthcare / emergency services.
   • Conduct motivational sessions and career-guidance discussions to improve employability.
8. Result Guarantee
   • Commit to a 95% pass rate among enrolled participants.
   • Monitor performance continuously and intervene with remediation as needed.
   • Adjust teaching methods or support for low-performing trainees to uphold this guarantee.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

Based on the Healthcare SSC’s model curriculum and qualification pack for HSS/Q2301 – EMT-Basic:

• Educational Qualification: As per SSC / model curriculum:
  • Medical Graduate (e.g., MBBS / BAMS / BHMS) OR
  • B.Sc. Nursing OR
  • B.Sc. in Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
• Certifications:
  • TOT (Trainer of Trainers) certification from the relevant SSC / Sector Skill Council is mandatory.
  • Domain certification in EMT-Basic role (HSS/Q2301) as per SSC recommendation.
  • Instructor-level emergency certifications preferred: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardio), ITLS / trauma, etc. Model curriculum recommends these.
• Experience:
  • As per SSC / model curriculum: ≥ 5 years of relevant experience for a Level 4 EMT-Basic trainer.
  • Experience in teaching EMT-Basic or related paramedical/EMS courses is highly desirable.

  • Passion for quality training, willingness to continually update knowledge in emergency medical services.

• Training quality and participant satisfaction
• Attendance and retention rate of trainees
• Improvement from pre-assessment to final assessment
• Assessment pass rate (target: ≥ 95%)
• Number of candidates certified
• Placement rate / employability of trained candidates
• Accuracy and timeliness of MIS reporting
