About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Trainer for the Solar PV Installer (Suryamitra) programme. The Trainer will deliver training aligned to the Qualification Pack SGJ/Q0101 (NSQF Level 4) under the aegis of the Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ). The Trainer will be counsellor, educator, monitor and motivator, ensuring high-quality training delivery, assessment readiness, certification, and strong placement and results outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct counselling of prospective candidates: assess interests, eligibility, baseline skills, and motivate enrolment.
• Deliver training to candidates as per the module curriculum designed by SCGJ and mapped to SGJ/Q0101.
• Monitor and manage candidate attendance, participation and engagement (both theory & practical).
• Prepare and submit Daily MIS reports: attendance, performance, issues, progress of batches.
• Conduct pre-assessment of candidates (to gauge readiness, identify gaps).
• Prepare candidates for assessment and certification: mock tests, revisit weak areas, ensure compliance with assessment criteria.
• Motivate candidates toward strong academic performance (good grades) and placement readiness.
• Ensure 95% result guarantee (i.e., targeted pass rate for batch).
• Liaise with assessment & certification bodies, ensure infrastructure, logistics, and candidate documentation are in place.
• Provide timely feedback to management on batch progress, training effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
• Promote a positive learning environment, reinforce safety, professionalism, discipline, and employability-skills mindset.

Trainer – Education, Qualification & Experience

As per the model curriculum and Trainer prerequisites for SGJ/Q0101 role:

• Educational Qualification: Minimum ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Mechanical, Fitter, Instrumentation or Welding trades; OR B.Tech in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation / Electronics or MSc Physics.
• Certification: Must be TOT (Training of Trainers) certified by the respective Sector Skill Council (i.e., SCGJ) for the job role of Trainer. Should also have domain certification for the job role “Solar PV Installer (Suryamitra)” (SGJ/Q0101).
• Work Experience:
  • For ITI/Diploma holders: Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience (in solar PV installation / renewable energy / related trades).
  • For B.Tech / MSc: Minimum 2 years relevant industry experience.
• Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to counsel, teach and motivate.
  • Aptitude for training delivery, assessment preparation, and outcome-oriented with a passion for quality skilling.
  • Comfortable with classroom/theory and hands-on practical lab sessions relevant to Solar PV Installer role.
  • Good organizational, record-keeping and MIS reporting skills.
  • Commitment to achieving high pass‐rates (95% result guarantee) and supporting candidate placement.

Desired Competencies

• Comprehensive understanding of the Solar PV Installer role (site survey, procurement, installation – civil/mech & electrical, testing & commissioning, maintenance) as mapped in SGJ/Q0101.
• Familiarity with the model curriculum for SGJ/Q0101, including theory and practical hours, assessment criteria, NOS/units.
• Ability to deliver employability skills, safety practices, and placement‐oriented training.
• Ability to monitor and report attendance, progress, pre‐assessment results, candidate readiness and certification status.
• Strong motivational skills to ensure candidate engagement, retention, performance and placement readiness.
