Job Summary
The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment across manufacturing and logistics operations. This role involves developing and implementing safety policies, conducting audits, training staff, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and industry-specific safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, SOPs, and emergency response plans for manufacturing and logistics facilities.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections of production areas, warehouses, loading docks, and transport yards.
- Monitor safe use of heavy machinery, forklifts, cranes, and other operational equipment.
- Oversee warehouse safety including proper material handling, safe storage, and traffic management.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe practices; prepare detailed incident reports and implement corrective measures.
- Train factory workers, drivers, logistics staff, and supervisors on safety regulations, PPE usage, fire safety, ergonomics, and emergency protocols.
- Ensure compliance with local and national health & safety regulations (OSHA, Factory Act, Transport Laws, etc.).
- Coordinate fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid training sessions.
- Maintain accurate safety records, inspection logs, and training documentation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Mandatory certification in Safety (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent).
- 8–10 years of proven experience in safety roles within manufacturing and/or logistics environments.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations for factory operations, warehousing, and goods transportation.
- Experience with hazardous materials, chemical safety, and heavy equipment handling.
- Strong investigative, reporting, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.
